One year after the fire, traders hold thanksgiving and ask for support

Victims of the 22 February market fire gathered at the St Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral, Big Mankon, on Friday 21 February 2025 for a thanksgiving mass marking one year since the disaster. Speaking on behalf of the traders, line chair Madam Saphyra Lum said the community had mourned ten or more colleagues in the year that followed, lost either directly or through the hardship and trauma that came after. Traders used the occasion to say that the support they had hoped for had not fully reached them. Reported by The Observer, February 2025.
